Risk Purchasing Groups

A risk purchasing group is a group of companies engaged in the same type of business that purchases insurance as a group from approved carriers. All risk purchasing groups must register with the Department.

Risk purchasing groups are registered under North Carolina General Statute 58-22-10(9). Here are the forms that are needed in order to register a Risk Retention Group:

Every registered risk purchasing group must pay a nonrefundable renewal fee each year by January 1 in order to retain registration.
