| Responsibilities |
Position reports directly to the Director, Property & Casualty Division. In concert with the Regulatory Project Manager, the operations Manager is charged with the operational responsibilities in reviewing and approving rate, rule and policy form filings made by insurance companies, statutory bureaus, licensed rating organizations and joint underwriting associations. P&C operations also involve the licensing of rating organizations, advisory organizations and the monitoring of surplus lines compliance activities including the collection of appropriate premium taxes.
Operations management includes providing divisional guidance on policy and product issues based on technical expertise, statutory interpretation and may require supervisory responsibilities. In reporting to the Division Director, the position assists in establishing Division priorities, workflow methodology and provides assistance with consumer and industry support activities involving the Division as an ongoing activity or a requested service. |

| Requirements |
| Graduation from a four-year college or university preferably with a degree in business administration, economics, mathematics or statistics and five (5) years of experience in Property & Casualty policy and rate examination or underwriting, claims adjusting work or financial/marketing analysis; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| Preferred Requirements |
A Strong background in Property & Casualty insurance. Personal Lines product, underwriting, processing or rate making knowledge is essential. Experience in commercial lines is beneficial. Knowledge of multiple areas of insurance company operations, particularly underwriting, claims, sales, marketing and administration. Experience with NC insurance regulation and specific knowledge of the NC property and casualty marketplace are valuable. Knowledge of or experience involving operations of the NC Rate Bureau, NC Reinsurance Facility NCIUA, NCJUA and the overall rate making process experience.
Leadership assets or skills supported by team building experiences should be specifically noted in applying or by supplemental information. With the need to interact with different levels throughout the DOI organization and externally with consumers, agents and industry, effective verbal and writing skills are essential and examples of such experiences should be noted in applying. |
