There is no separate exam registration form required. Once you submit a standard application, staff reviews the submittal for exam approval. If approved, you will be automatically listed with ICC and Pearson VUE. If you are not approved, you will receive a letter stating the issue(s) and you may resubmit the application once the issue(s) have been met.

About the Board

The NC Code Officials Qualification Board has the primary duty of certifying Code Enforcement Officials in North Carolina. No city, county, or state agency inspector may enforce the State Building Code without being certified by the Qualification Board. The statutes establishing the Qualification Board and its responsibilities are GS 143-151.8 through GS 143-151.21.

The 20 member Board is composed of engineers, contractors, inspectors, architects, educators, and city, county, and state officials.
