NC Licensed Home Inspectors are required by state regulations to secure their client’s signature (or electronic facsimile) on a contract or pre-inspection agreement PRIOR to conducting the visual inspection of the dwelling. Consumers are encouraged to read the terms and conditions of the contract and familiarize themselves with the minimum Standards of Practice required of NC licensed home inspectors. The licensee must provide the written home inspection report within 3 business days of performing the inspection unless another date is specified in the contract.
The annual License Period for all NC Licensed Home Inspectors and Associate Inspectors runs from October 1st to September 30th each year. All licensees are required to attend 16hours of Continuing Education courses approved by the NCHILB during the license period in order to renew their license. All licenses expire on September 30th if they have not been renewed. Home buyers, home sellers, home owners and real estate professionals should ask to see a Board issued license renewal / ID cards whenever they meet someone representing themselves as a Licensed Home Inspector.
