| The field training staff is responsible for providing educational opportunities to North Carolina fire and rescue personnel. Certification training programs and upgrade programs are conducted to qualify certified fire and rescue instructors in the curriculum required for each program. |

| Training opportunities are provided throughout the year via many special schools made available to the state's fire and rescue personnel. Among the schools conducted each year are the N.C. Breathing Equipment School, Rescue College, Fire College, and High Angle Rescue School. |
