Reciprocity-Transfer of Certifications from another State
 
The North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission grants equivalent certification to any program that is accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board). The Fire and Rescue Commission can not give credit for individual classes or Implied Certificates. Reciprocity will only be given for completed certifications. To check your state’s accreditation status go to www.ifsac.org and www.theproboard.org, click on accredited agencies/entities to view a listing of accredited states.
 
To apply for Fire and Rescue Certification reciprocity you must complete an Application for Reciprocity and mail copies of your original certificates with the accreditation statement to the below address. To apply for Reciprocity for Fire Inspector you must complete a Fire Inspector Reciprocity Packet and submit it to the Code Officials Qualification Board for review.

North Carolina requires that you must be a member of a North Carolina Fire/Rescue Agency before certifications can be issued.
