After One Year, Authorities Catch Up With Quick
RALEIGH -- Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Rodique Androsly Quick, 27, 1505 Stansville Dr., Fayetteville, after a year of evading investigators with a warrant for his arrest. According to the investigation, Quick, an agent with Settler's Life Insurance Company, sold more than 30 fraudulent and fictitious life insurance policies. Investigators allege Quick collected $13,089.26 in sales commissions between November 2007 and January 2008.
This investigation was initiated by a complaint from Settler's Life Insurance Company. Quick is charged with four counts of obtaining property by false pretense. He was arrested by Fayetteville police on the outstanding warrant, then transferred to the Bladen County Detention Facility.
The Department of Insurance employs 20 sworn law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating claims of insurance fraud. In 2008, these investigators saw more than 453 cases successfully closed with more than $5.8 million in restitution and recoveries, 60 criminal convictions and 130 arrests.
An estimated 10 cents of every dollar paid in premiums goes toward the payment of fraudulent claims. To report suspected fraud, contact the Department of Insurance Investigations Division at (919) 807-6840. Callers may remain anonymous. Information is also available at the NC-DOI Web site.
