Four Arrested in Staged Accident Ring
RALEIGH -- Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Chassa Marie Blue, 30, 1624 Tom M Road, Rowland; Eboni Adelle Moore, 32, 206 Jersei Road, Rowland; Matthew Solomon Green, 23, 301 N Hickory St., Rowland, and Diedra Joann Werrell, 27, 182 Piedmont Dr., Rowland. According to investigators, all four were involved in six staged traffic crashes and then created fake medical bills and lost wage documents that ultimately netted them more than $115,000.
Blue, Moore, Green and Werrell are all charged with federal conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud. They voluntarily surrendered to authorities at the federal courthouse in Raleigh. All were released pending trial. Further charges and arrests are expected. The arrests came after a two-year joint investigation between the FBI and DOI-Criminal Investigations Division. Rowland Police Department assisted in the investigation.
