Raleigh Insurance Agent Arrested
RALEIGH -- Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Craig Genard Jenkins, 41, 4702 Summit Overlook Drive, Raleigh; he was charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretense.
According to the arrest warrant, Jenkins submitted 132 bogus business insurance applications in order to receive commissions totaling $22,130.13 from American Family Life Assurance Company (AFLAC).
Jenkins was processed at the Wake County Public Safety Center and was released under a $20,000 secured bond; his first scheduled court appearance is today in Wake County.
The Department of Insurance employs 20 sworn law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating claims of insurance fraud. In 2009, these criminal investigators saw more than 413 cases successfully closed with more than $10.5 million in restitution and recoveries, 89 criminal convictions and 175 arrests.
