Wilson Woman Accused of Embezzling Insurance Premiums

RALEIGH -- Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Susan Kaye Glover, 55, of 3824 Country Club Drive, Wilson; she is charged with one count of embezzlement by an insurance agent.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators allege that between December 2009 and October 2010, Glover pocketed $11,014.39 in premiums she collected while working as an insurance agent at Bonnie H. Smith Agency of Nationwide Insurance in Wilson.

With the assistance of the Wilson County Sheriff's Office, Glover was arrested on Feb. 28. She was placed under a $2,000 secured bond.

Glover voluntarily surrendered her insurance license. Affected policies were made whole by the Bonnie H Smith Agency.

The Department of Insurance employs 20 sworn law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating claims of insurance fraud. In 2010, these criminal investigators saw more than 402 cases successfully closed with more than $21.1 million in restitution and recoveries, 88 criminal convictions and 126 arrests.
