Vance County Woman Arrested for Alleged Accident Scam

RALEIGH -- Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Cassandra F. Alexander, 36, 877 Lamb St., Henderson; she is charged with one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators allege that on March 11, 2012, Alexander witnessed a traffic accident in Henderson, knew one of the drivers involved, and jumped into the vehicle before the police arrived. Investigators allege that she then filed a fraudulent claim with Nationwide Insurance Company for medical expenses incurred during the accident.

Alexander was arrested on Nov. 29 in Vance County and placed under a $5,000 secured bond.
