Cabarrus County Arrest for Alleged Disability Fraud

RALEIGH -- Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Timothy L. Crumitie, 48, of 509 Goldmoor Drive N.E., Concord; he was charged with two counts of insurance fraud.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators allege that Crumitie filed fraudulent physician statement forms with USAble Life Insurance in support of a disability claim related to a July 2013 shooting incident.

Crumitie was arrested on March 22 and placed under a $75,000 bond.

The Department of Insurance employs 20 sworn state law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating and prosecuting claims of insurance and bail bonding fraud. Since Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin took office in 2009, criminal investigators have made more than 800 arrests, resulting in more than 430 criminal convictions. These efforts have delivered more than $55 million in restitution and recoveries for victims.
