Five Arrested in Alleged Staged Accident Scam in Fayetteville

Investigators seek assistance in locating an additional suspect

RALEIGH -- Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrests of five people in an alleged insurance fraud scheme involving a staged auto accident in Cumberland County. The Department of Insurance requests assistance from the public in locating an additional suspect in association with this case.

Omar Rhashaud Bradley, 35, of Ellis St., Fayetteville, was charged with two counts of felony conspiracy and one count of insurance fraud. Bradley was arrested on Nov. 21 and placed under an $11,000 bond.

Timothy Robinson, 44, of 1111 Morgan St., Fayetteville, was charged with two counts of felony conspiracy and one count each of misdemeanor conspiracy, insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense. Robinson was arrested on Nov. 21 and placed under a $15,000 bond.

Laterryica Chantel Wright, 30, of 421 Plantation Road, Apt. 6, Fayetteville, was charged with two counts of felony conspiracy, two counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense and one count each of insurance fraud, misdemeanor conspiracy and obtaining property by false pretense. Laterryca Wright was arrested on Nov. 18 and placed under an $11,000 bond.

Lecretia Delmont White, 50, of 1165 Charlie Drive, Fayetteville, was charged with two counts of felony conspiracy, two counts of insurance fraud, and one count each of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, obtaining property by false pretense and injury to personal property. Lecretia White was arrested on Nov. 18 and placed under a $21,000 bond.

Spencer Montrell White, 32, of 421 Plantation Road, Apt. 6, Fayetteville, was charged with two counts of felony conspiracy and one count each of insurance fraud, obtaining property by false pretense, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and misdemeanor conspiracy. Spencer White was arrested on Nov. 20 and placed under a $6,000 bond.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators allege that the suspects conspired to defraud State National Insurance, Repwest Insurance and State Farm Insurance of more than $10,000 by intentionally causing an accident between one the suspect's personal vehicles and a rented U-Haul truck on May 23, 2014, in Cumberland County.

Investigators are requesting the public's assistance in locating Antonisha Raeneal Chavis, 23, of 806 Ashely St., Fayetteville. Chavis is wanted for felony conspiracy, misdemeanor conspiracy and insurance fraud.

The Department of Insurance employs 20 sworn state law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating and prosecuting claims of insurance and bail bonding fraud. Since Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin took office in 2009, criminal investigators have made more than 1,000 arrests, resulting in more than 500 criminal convictions with more than 200 cases currently pending court. These efforts have delivered more than $61 million in restitution and recoveries for victims.
