Insurance Agent Accused of Embezzlement in Richmond County
RALEIGH -- Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Mack McKinley Daniels, Jr., 46, of 1110 Camden Road, Wadesboro; he is charged with one count of embezzlement by an insurance agent.
Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Daniels, owner and operator of Daniels Affordable Insurance Service in Rockingham, of embezzling more than $1,200 in insurance premium payments from September through November 2014.
Daniels was arrested on June 4 in Richmond County and placed under a $10,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 18.
The Department of Insurance employs 20 sworn state law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating and prosecuting claims of insurance and bail bonding fraud. Since Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin took office in 2009, criminal investigators have made more than 1,000 arrests, resulting in more than 500 criminal convictions with more than 200 cases currently pending court. These efforts have delivered more than $61 million in restitution and recoveries for victims.
