Woman Accused of Presenting False Documents
RALEIGH -- Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Drucilla Yuvonne Bell, 36, of 8764 Shaw Road, Kenly; she is charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretense.
Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Bell of obtaining property from Aflac Insurance Company by means of false pretense. Investigators allege Bell presented false documents to the insurance company in 2010 in order to collect $3,380.71.
Bell was arrested on July 24 in Wilson County with assistance from Wilson County Sheriff's Office and placed under a $1,000 bond.
The Department of Insurance employs 20 sworn state law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating and prosecuting claims of insurance and bail bonding fraud. Since Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin took office in 2009, criminal investigators have made more than 1,500 arrests, resulting in more than 750 criminal convictions with more than 250 cases currently pending court. These efforts have delivered more than $72.1 million in restitution and recoveries for victims.
