Robeson County Man Accused of Pawning Fire Department Property
RALEIGH -- Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Eric Daniel Oxendine, 28, of 10921 Esther Drive, Wagram; he is charged with one count of felony larceny in Scotland County and one count of obtaining property by false pretense in Robeson County.
Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Oxendine of fraudulently obtaining $200 from Merritt Pawn by presenting property of North Scotland Volunteer Fire Department as his own for personal gain. Investigators allege Oxendine stole a rescue saw worth $1,935 from North Scotland Volunteer Fire Department and sold it between January and March 2016.
Oxendine was arrested in Robeson County on March 11 and placed under an $18,000 bond.
The Department of Insurance employs 20 sworn state law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating and prosecuting claims of insurance and bail bonding fraud.
